Week of September 5th
Our goal for this week will be continuing with context clues. In order for students to be able to talk about what a tricky word might mean, students may need a sentence stem. In Kindergarten, this could look like, “The picture shows me_______.” In upper grades, this could look like, “I think ______ means _______ because ____________.”
Week of August 28th
Based on our Access results from last year, it is clear our students need more opportunities to speak. One way to ensure this happens is to set an ongoing timer for 5 minutes. Each time it goes off, have the students talk. Turn and talk, round robin, random calling, repeating what is said, asking are a few ways to encourage speaking.
